‘Active Threat Training’ At Monte Vista High This Week
Police will be using simulated firearms and residents may hear 'explosive sounds.'

DANVILLE, CA — Danville police, fire personnel and town officials will be conducting training at Monte Vista High School on Thursday. The “Active Threat” exercise will be limited to the campus and will involve the use of simulated firearms. No live ammunition will be used but “explosive sounds” may be heard through the duration of the event, according to police.
Residents and visitors are asked to avoid the campus during the training. Residents will see ambulances, fire trucks, police vehicles and volunteer vehicles near the school and parked on portions of the campus.
“The training is designed to simulate a critical incident and provide response training for law enforcement and fire personnel, and allows the Danville Police Department to update and refine essential skills needed to provide the community with the highest level of service possible, police said in a statement. “The exercise will involve a number of police officers and emergency services vehicles.”
