Danville's Totally Trains Exhibit Open For A Few More Days

The Museum of the San Ramon Valley's annual exhibit features model trains traveling through mountains en route to Danville.

DANVILLE, CA — Just a few days remain to hop aboard the Museum of the San Ramon Valley's popular annual Totally Trains exhibit, which lasts until Sunday, Aug. 23.

Children can watch model trains travel over trestles and bridges, through tunnels, mountains, and canyons before making their way back to a model Danville. This year's theme is Trains and the Postal Service. Children will be able to sort mail and packages, like mailmen once did on the trains. The exhibit also includes a large collection of Plasticville buildings and antique model trains.

The exhibit commemorates the Southern Pacific Railroad line, which reached San Ramon on May 17, 1891, and operated until 1978. The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is located in the former Danville train depot.

The exhibit is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 3 p.m. A $15 Family Train Pass allows visitors to visit trains multiple times over the summer.
