Prosecutors said he targeted elderly and vulnerable people who trusted him, while a judge ordered a lengthy sentence and is weighing over $12 million in restitution.
2. Sale closed in Danville: $1.9 million for a four-bedroom house (mercurynews.com) — A four-bedroom, two-story home on Bengali Street in Danville sold last month for about $1.86 million, offering nearly 3,000 square feet and a two-car garage. The report also lists several recent nearby sales, giving Danville homeowners and buyers a snapshot of current neighborhood prices and how local property values are trending.
3. 2026 Changemaker Speaker Series: Four National Geographic Explorers (funcheap.com) — Danville's Blackhawk Museum is hosting a fall Changemaker Speaker Series bringing four National Geographic explorers and filmmakers for Thursday evening talks starting tonight, Sept. 17. With topics from dinosaur expeditions to long-lived "Blue Zones," residents can attend 7 p.m. presentations, meet the speakers afterward, and choose single tickets or discounted series passes at the Blackhawk Plaza Circle venue.
4. WATCH: Injured, Stranded Hiker Rescued From Mt. Diablo (patch.com) — Emergency crews recently airlifted a severely injured hiker from steep terrain near Fossil Ridge and Summit Trail on Mount Diablo, just outside Danville. Using a helicopter and rope rescue, teams safely transported the patient to medical care and highlighted how often similar rescues occur, underscoring the importance of preparation and caution for local hikers who frequent the mountain.
