Danville Police Arrest Man Accused Of Dropping Explicit Photos In Front Of Children

DANVILLE, CA — Danville police arrested a Castro Valley man accused of approaching children and dropping lewd photos of himself in front of them.

Since January 2025, Danville police have been investigating numerous reports of similar incidents, according to a town news release. On Friday, a 16-year-old called the police after spotting a man she believed was responsible for a past incident.

Officers located the man, identified as 38-year-old James Maldonado of Castro Valley, around Railroad Avenue who matched the description, and took him into custody, according to the town. Maldonado was arrested on suspicion of Annoying or Molesting a Child, and Distribution of Harmful Material to a Child, and was booked into the Martinez Detention Center.

Danville police investigators say they believe Maldonado is connected with multiple similar incidents. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Danville Police Department at 925-314-3700.
