Assistance League of Diablo Valley Benefits from “Macy’s Gives” Event
$2,500 in gift cards were awarded to Assistance League of Diablo Valley's Common Threads to buy clothing to homeless high school students.

The dedicated member volunteers of Assistance League® of Diablo Valley enjoyed yet another event at Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek, this time at the Macy's Gives Event, on Saturday, April 30. When the doors opened at 10 a.m., attendees were greeted by Resource Development, Research and Fundraising Chairman Louise Ferdun, who, with the help of a member of Assisteens® accepted admission tickets to be used later for a raffle and issued a wrist band worth a 15% discount toward any in-store purchase.
The attendees then shopped for skin care items in the cosmetics department as well as for items in the Michael Kors extensive handbag and purse collection.
At 10:45, participants proceeded to the second floor, where several adventurous member volunteers modeled in the Assistance League of Diablo Valley Spring Fashion Fling. Festive colors and luxurious fabrics blended to create a multi-sensory swirl of style and comfort. An encore stroll down the runway by all models concluded the revue.

Next, the long-awaited raffle rewarded four fortunate attendees with artfully arranged gift baskets, each filled to the brim with beauty items and various niceties.
Special thanks go to Assistance League of Diablo Valley volunteers Linda Griffin, who initiated The Assistance League of Diablo Valley Spring Fling idea and, with Cindy Hill, implemented the multifaceted endeavor. Most important, a salute goes to Lesle Nelson, Macy’s Merchandise Manager, who oversaw the Macy’s Gives Event. A total of $2,500 in gift cards were awarded to Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s Common Threads, a program that provides clothing to homeless high school students in the local community.
