Assistance League(R) of Diablo Valley Receives Grants from Local Civic Organizations

Members of the Speaker Bureau present information regarding the chapter's eight philanthropic programs and two auxiliaries.

Assistance League of Diablo Valley is a nonprofit, member volunteer organization dedicated to improving lives in our community through hands-on programs.   Speaker Bureau Chairman Gen Camera has enjoyed a very active summer where she has shared Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s story while pursuing much needed and appreciated grant opportunities from various civic organizations.

In July, en presented to the Pittsburg Kiwanis which resulted in a $500 donation.  In late August, while addressing the very well attended Clayton Valley Concord Sunrise otary meeting, Gen read Where’s Your Grandma Today?, one of the first books that taught children the importance of giving back to their community, which was written by a team that included Gen and several chapter members.

Irene Davids-Blair, President of the Clayton Valley Concord Sunrise Rotary, then presented Gen with a check, in the amount of $500, written to support R.E.A.D., a philanthropic program whose members read to elementary schoolchildren, presents an annual gift book to each child in the participating classrooms, and provides money to their respective libraries for purchasing books.  Additionally, Ms. Davids-Blair dedicated a book, Top 10 Dogs for Kids by Ann Graham Gaines, in honor of the chapter, resplendent with signed bookplate, to be donated to the Clayton Library.  Such overwhelming support from local civic organizations helps launch another rewarding year for Assistance League of Diablo Valley.
