Attempted Murder Of Blackhawk Officers: Suspect Arrested

DANVILLE, CA — A 25-year-old man was arrested Sunday in Danville on multiple counts of attempted murder of a peace officer after he allegedly drove his car into a deputy and a Danville officer, injuring both, after a disturbance at the Blackhawk Police Substation, according to authorities.

The suspect, Eduardo Carrillo, of Stockton, left the scene and was apprehended about a mile away after a brief struggle with Contra Costa County Sheriff's deputies, said agency spokesperson Jimmy Lee.

The incident began when Carrillo displayed "erratic behavior" at about 2 p.m. at the Blackhawk community substation, was asked to leave, and Danville Police Department officers were called to assist, Lee said.

"As the man was leaving in his car, he accelerated his vehicle rapidly and deliberately attempted to run down the officers and deputy," Lee said. "The suspect’s vehicle struck the deputy and a Danville officer."

Lee said both officers fell to the ground after being hit, and a Danville police sergeant shot at the vehicle — hitting the car, but not the suspect.

The deputy was treated and released from a local hospital, while the Danville officer was treated at the scene by paramedics, he said.

Carrillo was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on three counts of suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer and a probation violation. He is held in lieu of $1.5 million bail.
