  • How it works:

    Music is made up of Tempo, Pitch, Volume, and Rhythm.  Tempo is the pace of the music. Tempos that range from 60-70 beats per minute is found most comfortable and soothing because it reflects and matches the tempo of the heart. The Pitch is the frequency of the music song. The higher the pitch, the more tension it causes, and the lower the more soothing.  The volume or the intensity of the music can cause pain and tension if too loud but at a low volume can be easy, and relaxing to listen to.  Rhythm or the beat of the song helps the body regain the order that it had previous to the stress caused by the medical illness or condition.
