CA Couple Searches Raw Sewage To Find Beloved Engagement Ring

An Alamo couple moved heaven, a lot of earth, and a few other unsavory things to retrieve the ring after the bride-to-be flushed it.

ALAMO, CA — They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend and an Alamo woman was willing to go a long way to find hers after she accidentally flushed her beloved engagement ring down her toilet. It took Alamo resident Haleigh Morrissey about 48 hours to dig the ring out of raw sewage thanks to the help of a plumbing snake equipped with a camera, a metal detector and some tenacious neighbors, according to a report by CBS.

The betrothed couple told KTVU the ordeal started when fiancé Dean Booras took the ring off his future bride's finger and stowed it safely in a tissue in their bathroom. The ring stayed there until the bride-to-be accidentally flushed it down the toilet. Two days later, after the frantic and unique search efforts, the ring was finally recovered. The two will be married in May. Read the full story here.
