CANCER SURVIVORS are invited to celebrate by joining the Survivor Lap at the annual Relay for Life event, which will be at Granada High School on Sat, June 22, 2019. The Tri-Valley Relay for Life is for Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Sunol and Livermore.

The Survivor Lap is the very first lap of the day and follows an inspiring Opening Ceremony at 9am. Mayors & Vice-Mayors from Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin will be present to show their support, Livermore Mayor Marchand is himself a cancer survivor.

Survivors walk the lap to the cheers of their friends and onlookers, it is a very heartfelt time of rejoicing, love and gratitude.

The second lap of the day is the caregiver lap, where spouses, children and other caregivers join the survivor in walking around the track.

Following these laps, anyone can walk a lap or more to honor loved ones who have battled cancer. In addition, the Survivors tent has free gifts, an ice cream social for survivors and other activities.

Relay for Life is a fundraising activity of the American Cancer Society to help fund research and other activities in the battle against cancer.

If you are a cancer survivor, please come and join the survivor lap, you’ll rejoice with others as you walk the lap honoring your fight against this dreaded disease.

In the evening, the LUMINARIA (lighted bags) surround the track, each one with the name of a survivor, one currently fighting the battle or a loved one lost to cancer. The luminaria ceremony which begins after dark, honors survivors as well as those who have lost the battle. To order a Luminaria bag for a loved one, go to www.RelayforLife.org/TriValleyCA
