CHP Looking For Witnesses In Deadly Contra Costa County Crash

A Honda Civic struck a tree and caught fire; a woman was found dead inside the car.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The California Highway Patrol's Contra Costa office is looking for anyone who may have seen a fatal solo-vehicle crash Thursday night on westbound SR-24 near St. Stephens Drive in Orinda.

When first responders arrived at the scene around 9 p.m., they found a Honda Civic that had struck a tree and was fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was put out, a woman's body was discovered inside the car, the CHP said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Contra Costa CHP at (925) 646-4980.
