The shooting was reported at 10:26 p.m. at the Hilton Oakland Airport hotel at 1 Hegenberger Road, police said.

A Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office inspector shot a suspect at a hotel near Oakland International Airport late Monday night, according to Oakland police. The shooting was reported at 10:26 p.m. at the Hilton Oakland Airport hotel at 1 Hegenberger Road, police said.

Two district attorney’s office inspectors, a man and woman, had gone to try to arrest a man with three felony warrants for his arrest, including one for possession of a stolen vehicle, Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney Barry Grove said. A struggle ensued and the suspect took out a firearm. The male district attorney’s inspector discharged his weapon, striking the suspect, Grove said.

The suspect, whose name is not yet being released, was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition as of this morning, according to police. Neither inspector was injured in the incident and the suspect’s firearm was recovered from the scene, police said. Grove said the two inspectors involved in the incident both have more than 10 years of law enforcement experience.
