DANVILLE, CA — Popular East Bay church Community Presbyterian Church, Danville has called off in-person services and will offer livestreamed services through the end of March, in step with guidelines from Contra Costa Health Services that recommend events of more than 50 people be canceled.

Services will be livestreamed during regular service times: 5 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday on the site and on the CPC Facebook page, the church said in an email to its congregation.

CPC said it wants "to be a church known for deep compassion and good citizenship" and make the decision as a commitment "to the health and prosperity of our whole community."

The church urged people to gather in their homes, with other churchgoers and neighbors to watch the services online, and send a photo to info@cpcdanville.org of themselves or their group watching the services.

Church events of more than 50 people will be canceled, CPC said. Most smaller gatherings such as Bible study groups, school groups and support groups will meet as usual, though groups and classes may decide to cancel meetings. More information on those changes can be found here.
