Danville Costco Robberies: Detectives Investigating Possible Link To Similar Peninsula Crime

BREAKING: Investigators are working to determine if the Costco robberies are connected.

DANVILLE, CA — A little more than a month after the Costco in Danville was robbed twice, another Bay Area Costco was hit in a similar smash-and-grab armed robbery this week, police officials said. Police said multiple witnesses inside the Foster City Costco called 911 around 11:15 a.m. Thursday to report the robbery. According to police, four suspects entered the store and went to a glass display case, broke the glass with hammers and took merchandise from inside the case in less than 30 seconds. The suspects were last seen in the parking lot and fled the area in a car.

Danville police officials say they are aware of the peninsula robbery and are communicating with Foster City police investigators to try to determine if the Costco robberies are connected. On May 19, the Danville Costco was robbed by two suspects, who smashed a display case and stole merchandise, firing a gun one time before fleeing the store. The same Costco was allegedly robbed by three masked suspects earlier that month. Police arrested an Oakland man in connection with the alleged robbery attempt. Those two suspects are still at large.

Three of the suspects during the Thursday robbery were wearing masks, and the fourth had his sweatshirt hood covering his head and part of his face, police said. Witnesses reported that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun, according to police. Police said witness described the suspects as black males in their twenties who were between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall with medium builds.
