Danville Hoots Baseball Compete in 'Connie Mack World Series' in New Mexico

The Hoots players are from all over Tri-Valley.

The Danville Hoots baseball team’s bus was welcomed to Farmington, New Mexico on July 31 by a police escort through town. Once they arrived at the Farmington Civic Center, players were personally welcomed by local cheerleaders and Miss New Mexico Kamryn Blackwood who escorted them into the building for their orientation and welcome barbecue.

Saturday morning, the Farmington community put on a spectacular parade through downtown Farmington complete with bands, drill teams and floats specially made for each of the 10 teams playing in the Connie Mack World Series. Hoots parents even met New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez at the parade.

On Saturday afternoon the Connie Mack World Series began with games between the Carolina Vaqueros from Puerto Rico and the Frozen Ropes team from Texas.

Following the first game, the Opening Ceremony took place with special guest, Ken Griffey Jr., a former player at the Connie Mack World Series, in addition to a spectacular fireworks display. Local families are hosting the players for the duration of the tournament. The Danville Hoots played the DBat Gallegos from Texas at 12 p.m. on Saturday in the first round.
