DANVILLE, CA — Danville joined communities around the country in lowering its Civic Center flags to half-staff to mourn the victims of the Highland Park shooting.

Pres. Joe Biden issued a proclamation Tuesday ordering that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff and “upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations…and throughout the United States and its territories.”

On Monday, seven people were killed and dozens more wounded at a July 4 parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park after a gunman opened fire from a rooftop with an assault rifle. On Monday evening, 21-year-old suspect Bobby Crimo was taken into custody following an extensive manhunt. On Tuesday, Crimo was charged with seven counts of first-degree murder.
