Danville Middle School 1 of 4 In U.S. Selected for In-Depth Case Study

Diablo Vista Middle School was selected for a case study involving character education.

DANVILLE, CA - From the San Ramon Valley Unified School District: Diablo Vista Middle School was one of four schools in the country to be selected for a case study on character education. The research company, Impact Ed. will be conducting this in-depth case study on International Character Day. Character Day is a global movement held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 spearheaded by Webby Awards Founder Tiffany Shlain.

Character Day activities at Diablo Vista Middle School include a 38-minute character lesson in the morning, a screening of the film “30,000” days from Emmy-nominated Film Studio Let It Ripple, in-depth discussions and the activity, “Tree of Character." The school day will center around discussions about the importance of developing character, qualities like curiosity, creativity, initiative, collaboration, empathy, and how developing these strengths can lead to a life of meaning and purpose in today’s world.

There are more than 75,000 screenings scheduled in all 50 states and across 75 countries with events taking place at organizations spanning the top tech companies, museums, schools, universities and libraries – as well as homes around the world.

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District stands among the highest-achieving school districts in California. It encompasses the communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo, and San Ramon (including the new Dougherty Valley communities in east San Ramon) as well as a small portion of the cities of Walnut Creek and Pleasanton.
