Danville Middle Schooler to Compete on Popular Baking Show

Ryan Wilson and two other competitors are vying for the championship and the hefty $10,000 prize money.

DANVILLE, CA — A Danville middle schooler will show off his cupcake skills and compete against three other kids on the Cooking Channel’s “Sugar Showdown.” At only 12 years old, Ryan Wilson has developed baking skills that are the envy of the town.

Ryan, who attends Los Cerros Middle School in Danville, recently started his own YouTube tutorial channel to demonstrate baking tips and has competed once before on the Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship.”

Randi Wilson, Ryan’s mother, says baking is his life.

“He is crazy about competing,” Wilson told Patch.

The competitors are vying for the top spot and the hefty $10,000 prize money. “Sugar Showdown” will air on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. on the Cooking Channel.
