Danville Native Competes In Semifinals On NBC Dance Competition

A.T. Chau and her partner — both from NorCal — have wowed the "World of Dance" judges, including Jennifer Lopez.

DANVILLE, CA — A.T. Chau, who was raised in Danville, made it to the semifinals round of NBC's "World of Dance" competition.

Chau graduated from Monte Vista High School, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. She and her partner, Elk Grove native Jake Mcauley, are set to dance in the show's semifinals Tuesday to compete for a $1 million prize.

While they did not make it to the finals, they thanked their fans and others for all of the support.

"We are so proud of all we have accomplished and so thankful for everyone who has helped us to succeed," they wrote.

The young contemporary dancers competed against each other while dancing in the Bay Area and were routinely paired together by choreographers at conventions, according to the show's website.

They recently graduated from high school and moved to Los Angeles to pursue their dance dreams.

The duo has earned high praise from "World of Dance" judges, which include Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo and Derek Hough. They're competing against the likes of seasoned professionals, according to NBC.

Their choreographer is Tawnya Kuzia of San Jose, who was previously Chau's teacher at her former studio, Nor Cal Dance Arts, Bay Area News Group reported.

The show airs 10 p.m. Tuesday and 9 p.m. Wednesday — a double-night finale event.
