Danville Police Department's Phone Number Used In Scam Attempts
"If you receive a call like this, simply hang up."
DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Police Department is alerting residents to an old phone scam that has recently resurfaced. Police said scammers have spoofed the department’s phone number and called residents claiming to be law enforcement to notify the caller that they need to clear up a warrant.
"Where these scammers have taken it up a notch is that if you look on your caller ID it appears the call is coming from the police department's front desk number, (925) 314-3700. We can tell you with full confidence that the Danville Police Department will not call you to ask for money over the phone."
Local government agencies do not call to solicit funds from residents. Residents are advised to hang up and avoid giving out any personal information.
