Danville Police Took The Plunge To Benefit Special Olympics

The team from Danville was undeterred by the freezing San Francisco water.

DANVILLE, CA — Employees of the Danville Police Department and their families braved the icy cold water in San Francisco Bay last Saturday for a great cause. The team participated in the annual Polar Plunge at the Little Marina Green in San Francisco.

Groups from all over the Bay Area form teams and turn out to plunge into the frigid water at the events scheduled throughout Northern California each year. The average water temperature in the bay in February is just over 50 degrees, according to Current Results.

Lieutenant Allen Shields said the event is just one of several that the staff and their families participate in each year to support Special Olympics.
