Danville Residents Invited to Art Exhibition Featuring Surf Boards and Sea Life
An Opening Reception for the new exhibition is scheduled for Friday, July 8.
Danville, CA— The Town of Danville presents Surf’s Up, an art exhibition opening Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery.
Surf’s Up showcases the artwork of fifteen sun and sea loving artists who hail from the tropics of Hawaii to secluded Marin County Beach Towns to the famous California Surf Town of Santa Cruz. Viewers will be delighted at the amazing sea life depictions beautifully painted onto retired surf boards.
Surf’s Up will feature the original artwork of Erik Abel, Matt Beard, Bleen Photography, Clay Campbell, Shawn Griggs, Jeffrey Hemming, Yeshe Jackson, KTO, Llewellyn Ludlow, Kelly Mumford, Maia Negre, Jimbo Phillips, Mary Shisler, Frank Walsh and Kevin Walsh.

The exhibit is curated by Marija Nelson Bleier, Visual Arts Coordinator for the Town of Danville. The works in this exhibit are on display from July 8-August 18, 2016.
An Opening Reception for the new exhibition is scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.Immediately following the reception will be two free screenings in the adjacent theatre: first up is The Sunnydale Kids, a very short documentary by Micro-Documentaries that features kids from San Francisco.

Next screening will be the movie Soul Surfer, based on the inspiring true story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who returned to the ocean and surfing after losing an arm in a shark attack. Complimentary refreshments will be served during the reception and popcorn will be served for the movie. As always, this event is free and open to the public.
The Village Theatre and Art Gallery is open to visitors Wednesday through Friday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.,Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday by appointment only. The Art Gallery is closed on Sundays. Admission is free.
