Danville Town Council To Vote On Council Member Salary Raises
The council will vote Tuesday whether to give themselves a 10% raise, effective after the next election.

DANVILLE, CA — Danville Town Council members will consider raising their salary by $138 a month at their Tuesday meeting. If approved, the salary would rise from $1387 per month ($16,644 per year) to $1525 per month ($18,300 per year.)
According to California law, general law cities like Danville set a base salary depending on their population. This amount may increase either by five percent per year, or the amount of the annual increase in the California Consumer Price Index, capped at 10% per year.
The current salary of Danville Town Council members is $1387 per month, which went into effect in December 2024 following the election. According to the formula outlined in Section 36516 of the Government Code, the maximum possible increase would be $138 per month, calculated by multiplying $1387 by 5% by 2 years.

The new salary would go into effect December 2026 following the next election, because state law prohibits current councils from giving themselves immediate raises. The raise would cost approximately $8,280 from the town’s operating budget.
