Demolition Begins on Vets Memorial Building

The multi-million dollar renovation project continues as part of the old building was demolished Thursday.

A CAT bulldozer plowed through a portion of the Veteran's Memorial building on Hartz Avenue Thursday, demolishing the area that will be rebuilt over the next several months. The demolition is set to continue Friday.

Crews from Zovich and Sons began the demolition of the rear portion of the building as part of the project expected to cost $7.8 million.

The front of the building will be renovated, while the back is being rebuilt, doubling the center's capacity and giving it a larger central community hall and more meeting spaces.
