Driver Arrested, Faces DUI Charges After Danville Pursuit
Callers reported the car was driving with the driver's side door open. Police said they saw the car going the wrong way on the road.
DANVILLE, CA — A Concord man was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of charges including driving under the influence after a pursuit through Danville, police said.
The Danville Police Department received reports around 11:20 a.m. of a reckless, high-speed driver driving his white Toyota Camry with his door open. Police said in a statement that they found James Reidy, 53, driving into oncoming traffic before making a U-turn onto southbound El Capitan near Sycamore Valley Road.
Reidy drove over the curb, onto the shoulder and stopped, police said.

He refused commands to get out of the car and resisted officers as they tried to handcuff him, police said. An officer tased Reidy to subdue him and the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District treated him for minor abrasions.
Concord Police has been looking for Reidy, police said. The California Highway Patrol sought him for crashing into other cars on I-680, police said.

He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of the DUI charge, plus charges related to using a car to flee police, driving the wrong way while fleeing police and violating probation.
Chief Allan Shields said the officers found Reidy as quickly as possible and thanked the public for helping police find him.
