Summer Serenade

Downtown Danville comes alive Thursday, July 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. when the Summer Serenade Street Festival returns. A special edition of the Saturday farmer's market from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and wine tasting are just two highlights of this year's Serenade, which is brought to you by neighborhood merchants and restaurants.

Discover the best that Danville has to offer as you enjoy this unique summer evening with friends, family, and neighbors. Find great deals when you browse the showcases of your favorite shops. Visit the specialty vendor booths that will enliven the middle of Hartz and Prospect Avenues. Enjoy $5 wine tasting at select locations, and shop for just-picked fresh fruits and vegetables from local growers starting on East Prospect Avenue. It's also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about local merchants and community organizations.

Forget cooking—immerse yourself in the festival atmosphere and plan on dining downtown. From gourmet hamburgers and Kobe beef to seasonal salads, and anything in between, there's a menu perfect for everyone within walking distance of the Serenade. Grab a seat at a cafÈ in the heart of town where you can relax with the best vantage point to take in the street scene.

Evening entertainment includes a performance by the acoustic rock band, 2 Endeavor, that will have guests both young and old grooving to the beat. Check out karate demonstrations by Tao Sports, and laugh it up with street performer funny man Marcus Raymond, whose hysterical comedy and wild stunts will wow you. Kids will love all the fun creations of Matthew the Balloon Guy, and little ones can climb aboard for train rides at the north end of Hartz Avenue.

Make your plans now for the Summer Serenade and also mark your calendars for Summer Fest, Discover Danville's second street festival of the season, scheduled for Thursday, August 5. Both events are a great way for Danville residents and visitors to savor a summer evening with family and friends.
