Artists and photographers show their works inspired by Eugene O’Neill and their visits to the historic Tao House, O’Neill’s residence from 1937-1944 in the foothills of Danville, CA. Eugene O’Neill is a Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright who was inspired to write some of his most famous plays at Tao House.
The bucolic nature of the area was one of the reasons he and Carlotta settled in this area. He loved the rolling hills and gnarled oaks as twisted as some of the plots and characters in his plays. Many say his presence remains in the house, especially the second floor writing room, even though he has not lived there in over 70 years. The Play “A Moon for the Misbegotten” will be performed up at the Barn at the Tao House in September, sponsored by the Eugene O’Neill Foundation. This is the last play he wrote while living there.
The Play “Ah Wilderness” will be performed by the Role Players at the Village Theatre in September.
