‘Everyone Is Welcome Here’ Signs Popping Up In San Ramon Valley

The signs signify that the school district strives for a 'diverse, welcoming and truly inclusive community.'

DANVILLE, CA — A unique project launched to send a message to the community that the San Ramon Valley welcomes all individuals, regardless of race, color, age, ethnicity, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, gender, gender identity or gender expression is underway in Danville and San Ramon.

The “Everyone is Welcome Here” signs popping up in Tri-Valley are part of a project designed by a community-based committee that worked with students and teachers from San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

“By displaying the sign, you help us achieve our goal by sending a message of welcome at your place of business, worship, learning or gathering, regardless of background,” said SRVUSD Superintendent Rick Schmitt. “You can further support this message by discussing the purpose of this sign with all members of your organization. We are grateful to the City of San Ramon for being one of our first partners in this work, displaying the sign on the digital marquee in front of City Hall.”

The district said students from Dougherty Valley and California High School art programs worked with the committee to develop concepts for the sign.

Residents, businesses and community members interested in joining SRVUSD in their endeavor to create a more inclusive San Ramon Valley, should contact communications@srvusd.net. The District is also interested in finding a partner to help with the cost of printing so that the signs can be distributed more widely. For more information, click here.
