Family Of Geese Walk Along East Bay Freeway

CHP officers rescued adult and baby geese strolling down the side of I-680.

DANVILLE, CA — I-680 saw some unusual commuters the other day, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A CHP officer provided traffic control for two adult Canada geese and at least five little goslings wandering along the shoulder of I-680 southbound, near the Sycamore Valley Road exit.

The officer made sure the family was transported to a safer location, CHP said.

This isn't the first time CHP officers have found unusual creatures traveling the freeways. In September, officers rescued an injured hawk found at I-680 ear Fallon Road. In August, the same officer who rescued the hawk rescued an injured kitten on northbound I-680, near SR-84.

If you happen to spot any more winged or four-legged commuters, call CHP's non-emergency number at 925-646-4980. Call 911 if an animal is in the middle of the road and actively blocking traffic.
