Danville Fire Contained After Residents Evacuated

At least one building caught fire in the Santiago Fire, which was reported around 3:50 p.m. and contained by 5 p.m.

DANVILLE, CA — Evacuations were ordered Thursday afternoon in the area of a 1- to 2- acre vegetation fire in Danville that apparently spread to a building.

San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District and Cal Fire responded to the Santiago Fire in the area of Santiago and Willowview courts just before 4 p.m. and had contained it an hour later, according to fire and police officials.

The fire was initially reported as a vegetation fire, but the Danville Police Department informed residents around 4:30 p.m. that a structure was also ablaze.
