That is always the big question and I have a formula that determines what I call your "buyability" or your ability to buy. In my opinion, it's when four things are in alignment, 1.Work and income, 2.Credit, 3.Interest rates, and 4. Home prices are in your favor. If all the preceding gives you a monthly payment you are comfortable with then the answer is yes. However, there is a 5th number to the buying equation, which is emotional, are you ready, are you are tired of renting and are you motivated? The 5th will drive you, for now you need to be driven as the prices are ticking up, so too will the competition and the lack of inventory will force you to look at properties inconveniently fast, and make an offer fast. You are now riding the new wave of real estate, with that you need a good surf board and a good instructor and guide which is me. I say that whole heartedly, because it takes a lot of heart for me as a Realtor to devote a lot of time and effort to open the door to your American Dream.
