Focus Alternative Education Program SRVUSD

Getting ready to enroll your child in Kindergarten? Come find out about the Focus Program!

An orientation meeting for the Focus Alternative Education Program at Neil Armstrong Elementary School will be held on Wednesday, February 24th at 6:00 pm in the multi-purpose room of the school.  Neil Armstrong is located at 2849 Calais Drive in San Ramon.  Participation in the program is based on a lottery.  In order to participate in the lottery you must attend this meeting.

The program is open to all kindergarten through third grade student in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.  The program’s basic curriculum is governed by state and district standards.  An elected parent board, teacher and principal determine additional goals and enrichment activities.

Features of the program include use of additional paraprofessionals to lower adult-to-student ratio, a second language, art and additional technology.  There is also a “looping” which allow students to stay with the same teach in kindergarten and first grade and then in second and third grade.  Students remain with the same group of peers for all four years.
