Hazardous Materials Incident In Danville Prompts Precautionary Evacuation

The spill was caused by a soil density tool that was run over by a tractor.

DANVILLE, CA — A hazardous materials incident prompted a small precautionary evacuation in a Danville neighborhood Thursday evening, town officials said. The incident, which was quickly contained, was reported in the 300 block of Love Lane at 4:15 p.m., according to the Pulsepoint phone application.

The hazardous materials spill was caused by a soil density tool that was run over by a tractor at a construction site, according to San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Dan McNamara. Due to a hazardous material inside the tool, fire crews responded to make sure there was no leak to the environment.

San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District and the Danville Police Department responded to the scene and no injuries were reported. After confirming that the material had not been exposed to the environment, fire crews deemed the area safe and the evacuation order was lifted, McNamara said.
