Heavy Police Presence At Danville Church: Active Threat Training
The training is taking place Monday, Oct. 14.
DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Police Department is holding "Active Threat Training" Monday at St. Isidore Church and School, so expect officers to be engaging in several scenarios on campus involving intruders or active shooters.
Volunteer role players are on scene, acting as victims, staff or intruders. There is no threat to the public, however the campus at 440 La Gonda Way is closed to students, staff, and the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 5-9 p.m.
Officers are engaging in scenarios that may involve loud noises and tactical responses. Simulated ammunition (small plastic BB’s) are used in the training exercise. A number of police and emergency services vehicles are on hand for the exercise.

No local roadways are closed as a result.
"Active Threat Training allows the Danville Police Department to update and refine the skills needed to provide the community with the highest level of service possible," the department said.

Police are asking residents to avoid entering the parking lot, church or school area, or attempting to communicate with the officers involved in the training exercise.
