How Does Your Garden Grow? Come Find out at the Museum

Stop by the Museum of the San Ramon Valley now through September 18th to learn about 1940s "Victory Gardens" and some tips for your own veggie patch.

There's a bountiful garden growing outside the Museum of the San Ramon Valley with corn, tomatoes, beans, melon, kale, flowers and more.

The garden is part of the museum's Victory Gardens/1940s Kitchen exhibit now through September 18. Visitors will learn about how and why people used gardens to reduce pressure on the public food supply during World War II.

Families tending to backyard gardens won't want to miss demonstrations about gardening and canning.

Canning Demonstrations

Saturdays: July 31, August 14, 28 and September 11 in the 1940s kitchen in the museum, starts at 11 a.m.

Master gardeners give planting tips and ideas

Saturdays: August 7, 21, September 4 and 18, starts at 11 a.m.

The produce from the garden will be collected and donated each week to a local food bank.

The Museum is located at 205 Railroad Ave. in Danville and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through September 5. Starting September 6 they will be open Tuesday- Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
