I-680 Shooting In Danville Leaves Man Critically Injured: CHP

A passenger was unhurt in the shooting Thursday night that happened when one vehicle pulled up to another one and someone started firing.

DANVILLE, CA — One person was critically injured in a shooting on I-680 in Danville Thursday night when one vehicle pulled up next to another on the highway and someone started shooting, the California Highway Patrol said.

A man and woman were driving north in a black Nissan Rogue on I-680 about 10 p.m. Thursday when the shooting happened, CHP officials said. A second vehicle pulled up next to them in the area of Crow Canyon Road and someone fired multiple rounds, hitting the driver and the Nissan several times.

The man, who was driving, was taken to a local hospital with "suspected critical injuries," CHP officials said. The woman was unhurt.

The other vehicle, which CHP did not describe, took off after the shooting.

Northbound I-680 was closed for bout three hours during the investigation.

California Highway Patrol Dublin area responded to the initial call, and detectives from the CHP Golden Gate Division Special Investigations Unit are investigating.
