San Ramon Valley Leadership Class Raises $1,000 for Martinez Nonprofit

Funds will go toward the nonprofit Foster A Dream, based in Martinez.

Leadership Class, under the guidance of teacher Janet Willford, held a successful See's Candy Fundraiser this past February. In just a short time, they were able to raise $1,000, which they donated to the nonprofit organization Foster A Dream, located in Martinez.

Foster A Dream assists 1,600 foster youth located in six counties, 800 of which are located in Contra Costa and Alameda. Funds raised provide children and newly emancipated teens with experiences from attending camps to sports activities, proms, vocational training, as well as providing basic needs items.

The money raised will enable an eighth grade student, who was unable to raise all the funds necessary, to achieve his dream to participate in his school's trip to Washington D.C. this spring.
