DANVILLE, CA — A Salinas man has been charged with the Jan. 18 armed robbery of the Shell station on Camino Ramon, the Town of Danville announced Tuesday.

Police honed in on Saul Ballesteros Martinez, 26, after speaking with witnesses and reviewing security camera footage that indicated the suspect left in a 2002 Honda Accord. Police used the town's Automated License Plate Reader system to identify the car and its owner, the Town of Danville announced in a press release.

The Sacramento Police Department found Martinez sleeping in his car and arrested him on Jan. 19, the town said. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of charges related to robbery and criminal threats, the town said. Police said they added an enhancement, which can be tacked on to charges, for using a gun to carry out the crime.
