Meet Danville's New Patch Mayor, Janet Fazio

"A small town atmosphere with an outstanding quality of life" is the description on the Town of Danville's website and new Patch Mayor, Janet Fazio, would like to share local news about the good work taking place there. Patch caught up with Janet recently to find out a bit more about her.

Q: What prompted you to take on the role of Patch Mayor?

There are so many great things going on in the community and wonderful opportunities all around us that people aren't aware of. So many times I hear people say “I wish I had known about that.” If I can help spread a little good news, that would make me feel good.

Q. What do you love most about Danville?

I think we take this for granted living right here, but Danville is a great destination. The Iron Horse Trail is great for bike riding, walking and running. We have a National Historic Site, The Tao House home to America’s only Nobel Prize winning playwright, Eugene O’Neill, we have hiking in both Las Trampas and Mt Diablo State Park, fabulous downtown restaurants and locally owned businesses with owners who engage with the community and come out to support events.

Q. What superpower would you have and why?

I would love to have the ability to connect people with others who can help them. Like, if someone needs a bookkeeper, here are three people who are looking for work, if someone if looking for a new pet, here is a rescue with five new puppies, if someone needs help, here is a service that is ready to welcome them. A lot of times, people are just one or two conversations away from solving a problem. Going back to question #1, I get a lot of joy being able to help problem solve and make life easier for others.

Q. What types of stories do you enjoy covering?

I really like letting people know about the things that are right here and available to them that they may not know about. It’s not breaking news by any means, but it’s the little stuff that could put a smile on someone’s face or make a small difference in their day.

Q. Do you have any specific goals you would like to achieve as Danville Patch Mayor?

My biggest goal is to make people more aware of events and the good work that is happening right here in Danville and the surrounding area.
