An early season heavyweight match-up takes place in girls basketball tonight.

Monte Vista High travels to Concord to do battle with high-powered Carondelet High.

The game begins at 7 p.m. Patch is covering the contest and will have results and details late this evening.

Monte Vista is 11-2 so far this season. The Mustangs have won six in a row, including a 53-38 thrashing of Livermore High on Tuesday.

Carondelet is 9-2 so far this season. The Cougars' only two losses have come against Southern California teams.

On Tuesday, Carondelet easily defeated a strong Amador Valley High team, 78-56.

Both teams are considered strong contenders for the EBAL championship.
