Mustang Blast, Fury Advance to Regional Finals
Blast (U15) wins 4-0, while Fury (U14) wins in penalty kicks

Danville's Mustang Soccer Club will have a pair of teams playing for the right to go to Nationals on Sunday with victories by the Under-14 Fury and Under-15 Blast at the Far West Regionals in Albuquerque, N.M.
Ryan Walker and Morgan Idso scored first-half goals as the Blast built a 2-0 lead. The defending national champs went on to add another pair in the second half with goals from Alexa Vandevanter and Kyle Moltzen to top Washington's FWU Reign Purple 4-0.
"We were kind of fortunate (Washington) played a double-overtime game yesterday that obviously took a lot of energy out of them," Blast coach Neil McGuire said. "We played fairly well. Once we went up by a few goals I thought we took our foot off the gas a little so we'll have energy tomorrow."

The Blast will play Colorado state champion Real Co National, which — like the Blast — is 5-0 in Albuquerque.
"It's going to be an extremely difficult game for both teams," McGuire said. "It's two quality groups of young ladies who want to make it to Nationals."

The Blast finished group play 3-0 and beat Arizona's state champion 3-1 in the quarterfinals.
It wasn't quite as easy a road for the Fury, which after playing to a 1-1 draw through regulation and extra time, topped Nevada 3-1 in penalty kicks.
The Fury went 3-0 in group play before beating Hawaii 2-0 in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Saturday marked the end of the road for the Under-13 Mustang Mavericks, which lost 1-0 to Hawaii. The Mavericks went 2-0-1 in group play before topping Nevada 1-0 on Friday in the quarters.
The Under-16 Mustang Rampage bowed out of the tournament on Friday with a 2-1 loss Southern California's Slammers FC.
