National Night Out Tuesday

Are you going to a "National Night Out" block party in Danville tonight?

The annual event in its 27th year is a chance for neighbors to get to meet each other as well as Danville police officers who will visit block parties, educating residents about cutting down on residential crime. It is part of a year-long community building campaign designed to increase crime prevention awareness.

The national event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.

National Night Out 2009  involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from 50 states, the U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases with over 36 million participants.
