Nearly 2,000 Volunteers Give Back During 'Serve Day': Danville
The number of volunteers has nearly doubled since the first Serve Day in 2015.

DANVILLE, CA — Approximately 2,000 volunteers gave back to their communities as part of CPC Danville's 4th Annual Serve Day weekend, Oct. 5-6, and by all accounts it was a huge success.
The number of volunteers has nearly doubled since the first Serve Day in 2015, and this year volunteers spread out across the Bay Area.
“One of the goals of Serve Day weekend is to cultivate a culture of giving back and showing others you’re for them through service,” said Deana Dickerson, director of Serve at CPC. "Our hope is that people will engage in volunteer opportunities that go beyond this weekend.”

During this year's event, more than 700 volunteers served on CPC’s campus participating in 13 different projects, including sorting crayons for the Crayon Initiative and washing cars to raise funds to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
“Our on-campus projects are a great fit for those with young children or grandparents,” Dickerson said. “There is nothing sweeter than seeing a 76-year-old serving alongside a kindergartner.”

The additional 1,300 volunteers that served across the Bay Area were involved in a variety of projects, including assembling meals with Kids Against Hunger in Pleasanton, making and delivering sandwiches to the Tenderloin’s homeless with SF City Impact, and helping the Nephrotic Syndrome Foundation in Alamo.
“CPC Serve Day volunteers filled backpacks for 40 kids battling Nephrotic Syndrome," said NSF President and Founder Andi Callaway. "Each one will bring so much love and light to families going through a very challenging journey. We are so grateful for the energy and love of our community.”
CPC is currently working to get sign-ups for this weekend’s SRVEF’s Run for Education, Oct. 12-13. To volunteer at the run, register at: http://www.cpcdanville.org/serveday/.
