DANVILLE, CA — A teen driver crashed into a power pole, shearing it off and cutting the power to residents in the El Pintado area of Danville for several hours Saturday afternoon, police officials said.
Danville Police Lieutenant Allan Shields said the 16-year-old driver was not injured and was not believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs based on the initial investigation.
According to Shields, the live power lines in the road forced officers to close El Pintado in both directions for several hours until PG&E maintenance crews were able to make the area safe.
