Register Your Danville Security Cameras
The Sheriff's Office is hopes to save time searching for surveillance video after crimes occur.
DANVILLE, CA — The Contra Costa Sheriff's Office is asking residents of Danville, Lafayette, Orinda and the unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County to register security cameras located at their homes and business. The cameras are an important crime fighting tool and, following a crime, it saves investigators time by knowing exactly where security cameras are located instead of having to canvas neighborhoods.
To get an idea of how valuable security camera have become, take a look at this report from Berkeley on Monday, where police pieced together 3 videos for release to the public to help find a sexual battery suspect.
According to the Sheriff's Office, if a crime occurs in your neighborhood, detectives may contact you and ask that you check your recordings for specific information. You remain in complete control and can opt out at any time.
