Nelson began his career working at Santa Clara University in the Graduate Business Office -enjoyed it - but was not fulfilled. He always found joy in the elderly, which was fostered by who he describes as his adopted grandparents. So, when the opportunity presented itself to take a role as executive assistant in a senior living community, he jumped at the chance. He was quickly promoted to Residence Services Director.
According to Nelson, top on his agenda is to build trust with his associates and empower them to do great things. Elements include training and mentorship and guiding them on a career path through mentorship and direction.
As for being brought on board by the current CEO, he says, “Jay has tremendous energy and style of leadership that makes employees desire to do their best. I am very impressed with the longevity of most of the staff, 10 -15 years, in an industry known for high turnover. I am truly blessed to be here.”
