San Ramon Man, 83, Arrested In Connection With Danville Hit-And-Run Collisions

Police said they believe they found the suspect's car, which was parked in the driveway of a home owned by the man's relatives.

DANVILLE, CA — An elderly San Ramon man has been been arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, town officials said. Daniel Brennan, 83, was arrested Monday evening. He has since been released while the investigation is completed.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2005-2007 silver Ford Escape or a similar SUV.

"Detectives found the 2006 Ford Escape during a canvass of the Hidden Oaks at Blackhawk neighborhood," officials said. "The vehicle was located in the driveway of a home listed to one of Brennan’s relatives, and was determined to have damage consistent with the collisions. Police impounded the Ford Escape for testing as part of the ongoing investigation."

Police said Brennan struck a bicyclist riding on westbound on Diablo Road near Alameda Diablo Road at about 1:20 p.m. Police said the bicyclist did not require hospitalization. The second crash occurred around 2 p.m. near Diablo Road near Clydesdale Drive.

"The two men suffered severe injuries in the crash and were hospitalized. One man was taken by CalStar helicopter to Eden Medical Center, the other transported by ambulance to John Muir Medical Center," officials said in a statement.

One victim suffered two spinal fractures and the other suffered from a high humerus fracture, concussion, and an intracranial hematoma.
