San Ramon Valley, Monte Vista Look To Advance
The Wolves and Mustangs both play higher ranked opponents in the second round of the NCS Division I football playoffs

Both Danville high school football teams are hoping to knock off higher ranked opponents this holiday weekend in the NCS Division I playoffs.
San Ramon Valley High travels to Union City to battle undefeated James Logan High. That game begins at 7 p.m. Friday.
Monte Vista High will be at Chabot College to take on San Leandro High. That contest starts at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Seventh ranked San Ramon Valley has an 8-3 record this season. Their only losses have come to Folsom, De La Salle and Monte Vista.
The Wolves advanced into the second round by trouncing Castro Valley High, 42-14, last week.

San Ramon Valley is led by Cal-bound QB Zach Kline and running back Jordan Weiss.
They'll be up against second ranked Logan High, which had a bye last week. The Colts are 10-0 this season. In their past six games, they've outscored their opponents, 311-30.
However, most of those teams were in the relatively weak Mission Valley Athletic League.
The two teams have had a pair of common opponents this season. Both squads defeated Foothill High and Washington High of Fremont.
Meanwhile, sixth ranked Monte Vista will grapple with third ranked San Leandro High.
The Mustangs have a 7-4 record. They've won four in a row, including a 34-33 victory over San Ramon Valley to end the regular season and a 42-36 first round win last week over Heritage High of Brentwood.
Monte Vista is led by Oregon-bound quarterback Jeff Lockie, who was named the East Bay Athletic League most valuable player.
San Leandro is 6-4 this season, a record that made some question it's number three seed.
The Pirates did win five in a row before losing its final regular season game to league champion Bishop O'Dowd, 48-26.
They had a bye in the first round last week. Both teams defeated Castro Valley High this season.
