Seniors Get Free 'YANA' Service In Danville
The service is offered to seniors who may live alone, or who have minor medical issues but are still largely independent.
DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Police Department has kicked off a new program for seniors designed to provide them with peace of mind. The free service, called "You Are Not Alone (YANA)," is offered to seniors who may live alone, or who have minor medical issues but are still largely independent. Some of these residents may not leave their homes often, and may not have local family members to check in on them regularly.
As a part of the program, members of the Danville Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing (VIP) Program is performing weekly visits to residents who register for the YANA program. The program is operated in several other communities and has been credited for saving the lives of residents who live alone and may have fallen or become sick, according to the Danville Police Department.
If you are interested in participating in YANA, or know someone who may benefit from it, contact the Danville Police Department at (925) 314-3700.
