The Star: Montana Berg was sensational in the circle for the Mustangs, allowing just two hits in the five-inning win against Castro Valley.
The Turning Point: The Mustangs supplied Berg with more than enough run support in the second when they scored six runs. After that, the result was never in doubt.

The Bottom Line: Monte Vista is the last team standing from the East Bay Athletic League. No. 2 Livermore, No. 3 California and No. 6 Amador Valley all lost Wednesday, meaning the Mustangs are the leagues only hope at claiming the North Coast Section Division I title. It won't be easy as the Mustangs will have to travel to top-seeded Freedom on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game with the Falcons, who have won NCS titles in seven of the past ten seasons.
